The Gospel of Matthew, Part 40

The Gospel of Matthew, Part 40

Seeing With the Blind

AUDIO ONLY

SUMMARY

The Gospel of Matthew is often called the Gospel to the Jews in that it has things in it which require some understanding of the Old Testament to understand.

In this passage unique to Matthew we have the blind men using a title which is used six times in Matthew, but only once in Mark and Luke, and in both those cases they are relating the same story, which is about a blind man named Bartimaeus.

So, where Matthew uses the title six times, Mark and Luke use it once. What is that title and why is it important?

When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied.
