The Gospel of Matthew, Part 15

From Praise To Hate

I have always been struck by how the celebration of Jesus’ entrance into Jerusalem, which is the event around Palm Sunday, turned to cries demanding Jesus’ crucifixion in less than a week. I have always wondered how many of the people who were laying down their robes for the donkey carrying Christ to walk on and waving palm branches saying “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” were, less than a week later spitting on him as he was paraded through Jerusalem on the way to Golgotha.

In the sermon on the mount, which is made up of chapters 5-7 of Matthew, Jesus talks about the place hate begins – in the heart.
