Beauty for Ashes - Anxiety & Faith, Part 10

This is the final part in the series on Anxiety & Faith. You can catch up on all previous posts on our blog

to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendour.” Isaiah 61:3

Matthew Henry’s commentary of this verse explains that these garments of praise are the beautiful garments worn on thanksgiving days.  Several years on now I can thank God for the above trial as I enter another and then another. Most of you know my father passed away a couple of years ago and in those early days after his death I experienced all those physical symptoms of anxiety and stress all over again. I am so grateful to God that I knew what those symptoms were, and I knew what to do with them. I knew to pray and give it to God.  To run to get my heart rate regulated.  To quote scripture and know that he is faithful and just, therefore he would strengthen me for the trial. I managed to get those symptoms under control pretty quickly. I had the privilege of officiating the funeral service and as we drove to the service, I felt so nauseous but I was convinced that I was called to such a time as this and assured that the moment I stood in front of the microphone I would be ok. And so I was. I even looked up, looked around and smiled at all those that came to celebrate the life of a very unique man.

… quote scripture & know that he is faithful & just

I hope you’ve been encouraged by hearing my story and that it has helped you in your own journey. He is good, He is faithful, He is kind.

I find your testimony and the discovery of this group at IBCD very encouraging. I see you are at the end of this series but, if I am in town (my husband and I like to travel a lot when he’s not flying for FedEx) I would like to participate in this final session. Will you please explain to me, is it online or in person at IBCD? Thank you‼️
