As we look at the passage in Hebrews today, the author talks about two mountains. Mount Sinia and Mount Zion. Mount Sinia is the mountain upon which God gave Moses the law, which becomes known as the Law of Moses. Mount Zion is, in this passage, a metaphor of grace and future hope for those who place their trust in Christ. One says “stay away!”, the other says “come near”.
Hebrews 12:18, 22 18 You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm… 22 But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God.
