The Way of Love

The Love for the Unfaithful

AUDIO ONLY

SUMMARY

“God loves you” is one of the most repeated phrases in modern Christianity, but have we lost the true meaning?

In this sermon, we try to understand God’s love by explored the unpopular love story of Hosea. God commanded the prophet to marry an unfaithful woman to serve as a living illustration: Hosea represented God, and his unfaithful bride represented God’s people.

The world tells us that love is based on changing emotions, feelings, and personal worth. We are taught that love must be earned. But God’s love is radically different. It is bound by a faithful covenant, shown in relentless pursuit, and given entirely by grace.

To truly understand the depth of God’s love, we must first recognize that we are Gomer. We have all run away from God to chase after idols. Just as Hosea bought back his unfaithful bride with silver, Jesus bought His bride back with His own blood.

Hosea 3:1 “Then the Lord said to me, ‘Go and love your wife again, even though she commits adultery with another lover. This will illustrate that the Lord still loves Israel, even though the people have turned to other gods…'”
