The Battle of the Soul

AUDIO ONLY

SUMMARY

This is what the battle of our soul feels like. We desire to break free from the sins which have plagued our life through the power of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes victory is quick and even easy as some of the sins which defined our life before Christ fall away and plague us no more. Others require more prayer, some accountability with a fellow believer, but eventually they fall away. But then there are those stubborn sins, those stubborn “laws” which define us that seem never to break. One day we seem to have victory and the next, we are right back at the beginning. We battle and battle until finally we accept within ourselves that we will never win. We slip into the silence of shame, and pray we can keep the private battle private. After all, no one else struggles like this, right? Paul did. Paul struggled and let us in on his own fight of the soul so we can learn that we are not alone.

For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; 23 but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. 24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?
