The Book of Malachi, Part 3

Priesthood in the Balance

AUDIO ONLY

SUMMARY

What is a priest? In a very short definition, a priest is a person who is able to bring God and people together. Historically, and across cultures and religions, priest do this through various means – rituals which commonly engage the senses, sacred stories, a worldview which places the individual into a greater context, definitions of societal structures like family, and so on. This is across all religions. Malachi describes the priestly role at its best when he says, 7 “For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, and from his mouth men should seek instruction– because he is the messenger of the LORD Almighty. What does it mean when we talk about “the Priesthood of the Believer?” How does Malachi’s message to the priesthood of his day resonate with the Priesthood of the Believer in Christ?

“For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, and from his mouth men should seek instruction– because he is the messenger of the LORD Almighty.
