Blessed Envy

Scripture teaches, particularly through the writings of Paul, that sparking “blessed envy” is one of the main reasons those who are Gentiles were adopted into the family of God. The chosen children had grown complacent and even a bit uppity with God. “We’ll do things the way we want, and Lord, you will fall into line.” So, God moved his blessing to the Gentiles, adopted them as children, in order to bring the Jews to their senses. God did this out of love for the Gentiles, and out of love for the Jews. It is his desire that blessed envy will drive them back into his arms.
