If there ever was a time when people caught a glimpse of joy and beauty which was there then gone but leaving an everlasting memory was when simple shepherds were serenaded by the angles of God. I doubt human beings have ever been able to reproduce anything like the heavenly chorus that night. I can imagine the longing for a better world that must have stirred in the hearts of the shepherds who, in spite of our romantic view of shepherds, were near the bottom of the social and economic ladder. The power of the joy led them to go and search for this child and in their joy, they could not keep what they had found to themselves.
Luke 2:16-18 16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.
