If we care about our relationship with God then we want to know what God thinks of us as we are right now. In fact much of the power of the message in the Bible is that God does know who you are, right now, and that he loves you as you are, right now. So often we think of “what will be” in our relationship with God – what we will be in heaven, what we will be when made perfect in Christ, but there is a lot said of who we are, right now, in the Bible and that “right now” is what we can embrace as who we are – right now.
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light.
— Ephesians 5:8
