The theme of the third Sunday of advent is “Joy”. Joy is an often referred to in the Bible as an expectation in our relationship with God. Words like “Joy” and “Rejoice” reverberate throughout the word of God reminding us that our relationship with God is, at its peak, an experience or understanding of Joy. In the Bible “Joy” is not really ever described in any kind of philosophical manner, probably because it is almost impossible to adequately do so, but instead it is something to be experienced and/or expressed.
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.
