As we pick back up in the gospel of Matthew, we are in chapter 10, looking at verses 16-23. As a reminder, we are looking at the speech Jesus gives his disciples before sending them into the field to do what he has been doing, preaching the gospel, healing the sick, casting out demons, and preparing the way for the Kingdom of Heaven.
I see in the speech the immediate instructions, but I also see in the speech several of the journeys we take as followers of Jesus Christ.
Before Advent we looked at the Journey of Faith, then the Journey of Trust, and today we will be looking at the Journey of Courage.
But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
– Matthew 10:19 – 20
