Today’s scripture concerns the Apostle Peter. In the Gospel of Matthew we have a statement which has been the source of confusion and divisions within the church for centuries. In my humble opinion it has been consistently mistaught from both the Catholic point of view and from the various non-Catholic points view, so let’s dig into this today
Matthew 16:18-19
And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
