Journey into Commitment - The Gospel of Matthew, Part 47
/

In the passage we have been looking at, Jesus is sending his followers out to do as he did, which is to preach the good news about the coming Kingdom of God.

In this send-off speech he tells his disciples that they will face opposition, but to not be afraid. He reminds them that the Holy Spirit of God will empower them, that they should expect opposition, but not be discouraged, and that they are not being thrown into an impossible fight just to die, but that they are valued. Then he reminds them that the journey will require commitment.

Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
– Matthew 10:39
