As the Apostle John finished up his letter to a struggling church, he makes a series of statements which need some clarification. Last week we looked at prayer and this week we are going to be looking at a sin which John says “leads to death” and that it really does not deserve to have a lot of prayer effort put into it. Does that surprise you? Let’s take a look.
1 John 5:16-17
If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he should pray about that. All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death.
