Jesus was a man on a mission. His mission was going to challenge the authority of his religious traditions. He knew he was going to be facing a lot of opposition from those who felt control slipping from their hands so, early in his ministry, Jesus established his authority.
Mark 1:22 22 The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.
