The Tour de France Grand Départ is happening in Düsseldorf this weekend and the route passes close by our church. On Sunday July 2nd, 2017, IBCD will come out to cheer the cyclists and have some good fellowship with our neighbors. Everyone is invited to join us for a time of fun, fellowship and engagement with our local community. There will be no Sunday services (both morning and afternoon) on this Sunday (July 2).
What will we do?
Watch the race together, cheer for the cyclists, make music, have fellowship, set a good mood for the people around us and the cyclists, have face-painting for kids and a table with information about IBCD. Everybody can come!
Where do we meet?
We will meet at Düsseldorf Rath S Station, on the side of the street where Penny Markt (Supermarket) is. The address is Oberrather Straße 10, 40472 Düsseldorf
When do we meet?
We will meet at 11:00, since there will be a publicity caravan which will come before the cyclists. The cyclists are expected to pass where we are around 13:15. The Outreach will end after the cyclists have passed. Please note: Passing the street from one side to the other will not be possible after 11:00 and may be difficult beforehand.
How to get there by train?
It is advisable to use the public transport, because many roads will be blocked. The S6 will pass by Rath S Station from both Essen and Düsseldorf Hbf. More Info at: http://www.rheinbahn.de/tourdefrance/Seiten/Fahrplanauskunft.aspx
How to get there by car?
If it is not avoidable, the race can be reached by car, which can be parked at the ISS Dome (from which a bus goes to Rath S) or at the Park&Ride Rath at Westfalenstraße 103, Düsseldorf. Parking there on these days will be expensive (up to 20€/car) and the parking spaces may fill up fast. Please note that the Reichswaldallee and Oberrather Str. and all streets that lead to them will be blocked.
We look forward to seeing you there!
