The Book of Romans, Part 45

Confidence in Christ

AUDIO ONLY

SUMMARY

Who were the Christians in Rome? Were they the super Christians? No. They were the same ones Paul harangued for being prejudice against each other based on their ethnic background, they were judgmental, condescending, petty, legalistic, and yet he can say he is confident in them. Convinced that they are full of goodness, convinced they are complete in knowledge, and convinced they are competent to instruct one another. Are these the same folks he has been writing do for the first fourteen chapters of this book? Yes they are. How is this possible? How can Paul claim such confidence in such a people? He has confidence in them, not because of who they are in their own strength, but because of who they have relied on, and that is the risen Savior, Jesus Christ.

I myself am convinced, my brothers, that you yourselves are full of goodness, complete in knowledge and competent to instruct one another.
