SUMMARY

Sometimes we think that the way we can escape those things that negatively influence us, or those things which cause us to sin is to isolate ourselves. Isolate ourselves from family, isolate ourselves from friends, isolate ourselves from feelings, isolate ourselves from responsibility. But it does not matter whether we live among mankind or retire into a hermitage if we are still bound by our own hell, our own corrupt natures. Without release from old beliefs, old laws which define our lives, without a new heart and renewed spirit, no condition can deliver us from the powerful hold of sin. Neither publicity nor solitude changes anything until grace prevails with us. The devil can tempt in the wilderness as well as in the crowd. We don’t need seclusion but heavenly-mindedness.

4 So, my brothers, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit to God.
